Musculoskeletal Therapy

Tui Na
The words Tui Na translate into "push-grasp" or "poke-pinch" in Chinese. Physically, it is a series of pressing, tapping, and kneading with palms, fingertips, knuckles, or implements that help the body to remove blockages along the meridians of the body and stimulates the flow of Qi and blood to promote healing, similar to principles of acupuncture, moxibustion, and acupressure. External herbal poultices, compresses, liniments, and salves are also used to enhance the other therapeutic methods.

Ultrasound
Ultrasound is a form of heat treatment for soft tissue injuries. It is used to treat joint and muscle sprains, bursitis, and tendonitis. Treatments are used to relieve pain and inflammation, speed healing, reduce muscle spasms and increase range of motion.

Infrared and Moist Heat
Heat increases blood flow and the manipulability of connective tissue. It decreases joint stiffness, pain, and muscle spasms. Heat also helps lessen inflammation and the buildup of fluid in tissues. Infrared and moist heat therapies are used for inflammation and acute and chronic injuries such as sprains, strains, muscle spasm, back pain, whiplash, and various forms of arthritis.

Paraffin used with acupuncture is especially effective in treating arthritis and repetitive strain injuries.

Paraffin
Paraffin wax is a soothing, fast acting heat therapy used to aid in the treatment of muscular aches and joint pains. Since 1962, physicians, physical therapists, and arthritis specialists have recommended the paraffin wax bath because it is one of the most effective methods of applying heat to relieve pain.
